#1 Childhood Obesity: Causes and Consequence

Childhood obesity is a huge issue in today’s age. That is one reason I chose to write my research paper on it. There are many different causes of obesity, whether genetic or environmental that effect a child and his/her health. One main cause is the easy access to junk food and sugary drinks. Children are able to find these with ease and they are typically cheaper than food that is fairly healthy. This is one reason many children and even adults look for fast, greasy, junk food rather than paying for something better or even taking the time to cook something on their own. Early childhood obesity has serious consequences especially as a child progresses and ages. Studies show that it can be seen that a child may be on the verge of being overweight before the age of five years old. Many health issues arise when it comes to being overweight such as diabetes, heart conditions, lung conditions and many other life threatening diseases. Due to this rising issue, it is extremely important to teach children at a young age on how to be healthy and take care of their bodies.

#2 The Research Process

Conducting research on this subject was very intriguing. I am very interested and mostly devoted in taking care of my own body and being the healthiest I can be. I began doing this research by evaluating myself and even how I was as a young child. However, not every single five year old is going to be “healthy” on their own. It takes parents and guardians to begin this process and to teach children. I found much helpful information on the different causes of childhood obesity along with the many future consequences that come with it. I learned that there are many other places and countries besides the U.S. that is dealing with this issue. Prior to this research, I knew that America was the leader in obesity, however I learned that China has been increasing their numbers in this problem as well. Being devoted to my own personal health, I would really like to continue this research even further especially with other populations and demographics. One day, I want to have a plan or guide that can help those get fitter and better their lives.
